What is an apprenticeship? An apprenticeship that applies classroom studies and on-the-job training working towards becoming a Journeyman Electrician. As an apprentice, you will earn while you learn.

How do I apply? Complete the online application. Once the application process is started, it must be completed within 30 days. 

How long is the apprenticeship? The Inside Wireman program is 4 years and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training. The Residential Wireman is a 2 year apprenticeship with 4,000 hours of on-the-job training. Lastly, the Limited Energy program is a 3 year program with 4,800 hours of on-the-job training.

How much does the program cost? There is no tuition cost. 

What are the residency requirements to apply for an electrical apprenticeship? You must be a US Citizen or have the right to work in the US.

What level of education is required to apply for an electrical apprenticeship? 

High School Graduate or a GED, or an AA Degree or higher from an accredited school. This is not a requirement but acceptable in lieu of a High School Diploma

Are there any math requirements necessary to apply? Yes. The math requirements can be met by documentation of one of the following:

  • “C” average grade for one full year of High School Algebra
  • Equivalent course in college-level algebra
  • Math placement test done at community college that places you beyond HS algebra

What are the next steps after submitting my application and documentation? Completion of an oral interview. You will be ranked based on your interview score. The JATC will select from the top of the list, as needed, to fulfill the needs of the electrical industry.

How long am I in the classroom? It varies with each program, but you will typically be in the classroom for one week blocks, Monday through Friday, several times throughout the year.

Where are the apprentice classes held? On the west side, classes are held at the JATC, 306 Anderson Rd, Mount Vernon, WA. The east side classes are located at 478 2nd St SE, E Wenatchee, WA
